PRESENTATION OF THE REGION
A STORY OF WATER AND WINE
The Médoc region
The Médoc means "earth in the middle" as it is between the Atlantic ocean and the Gironde estuary. The hallmark of the Medoc vineyards is a succession of small hills called "the crests" that are made up of a mixture of stones, sands, and gravel that dominates the estuary. The poor soils, very filtered and hot, are particularly suitable for cabernet-sauvignon which is its main varietal. Medoc wines are red wines that have lots of body and with good potential for maturing. Other than these world famous marvels, you can taste a traditionally hearty cuisine, such as the "grenier médocain", entrecôte on vine roots, lamprey, shad, oven-roasted lamb in Pauillac, grilled prawns or prawns "à la plancha"....so many delicacies for you to discover during your holidays...
